The magic of our 'Little Something' Dating Nights lies in its back to basics approach of getting two single people in a face-to-face meeting. I host events of different age ranges at different times. 'Little Something' Dating Nights for singles are to make new friends and have
the 'lucky number 6' minutes to find their possible 'Something Special' with someone. Although the format is similar, these nights are not like a usual speed dating event. These nights are simply a social evening for singles with Jules, the Matchmaker, who introduces you to everyone with a series of dates before a social evening at the end.

Why have I chosen 6 minutes?
I felt the normal speed dating evenings of 3 minutes were not enough time to see if there was a romantic connection or a 'little something' that could develop. The Chinese consider the number 6 as a lucky number. Its pronunciation is similar to (liu) in Mandarin, which is interpreted to mean "run smoothly or flow", because of this the number 6 is seen as a fortunate number where things go well or smoothly. The number 6 represents a harmonious union when engaging in any type of partnership or relationship. As the number 6 is seen as favourable in matters of love and relationships and 'things going smoothly', I decided this would be the perfect amount of time to see if there was a 'little something' between two people.

My nights are small so singles have enough time to make friends and maybe find someone special. I try to make sure there’s a similar number of men and women attending before a night goes ahead, though of course I can’t guarantee everyone who books will turn up. On average there are 7–8 men and 7–8 women, with a minimum of 5 of each and a maximum of 10. I keep the numbers small for a reason - smaller groups mean everyone gets a chance to talk to everyone, whether that’s for friendship with other singles or the possibility of meeting someone special. Unlike my larger social drinks, the dating nights are designed so everyone meets everyone. This way there’s time to build friendship, whether that’s with a new partner or a new friend (and often the men make friends with the men, and the women with the women too). I believe it is just as special to find a lifelong friend as it is to find a partner.
So what happens when you arrive at your chosen venue?
How it works on the night
Arrival and Registration
Arrival and registration is from 7.15pm with dates starting at 8pm. Please arrive between 7.15pm and 7.45pm to allow time to get a drink, complete registration, show your ID and find out how the evening works before we begin.

These evenings are just as much about making new friends as they are about finding a romantic connection.
​
When you arrive, you will be welcomed by me, Jules. I will check you in, ask you to show two forms of ID (including one photo ID), ask you to read and sign the Code of Conduct, explain how the evening works and answer any questions you may have.
​
You will also be given your personalised 'Little Something' Match Record (including your name and number). This includes the names of the singles you will be meeting during the evening and helps you keep track of those you would like to meet again. The Match Record is yours to keep and you are welcome to make any notes throughout the evening. Please also confirm I have the correct contact details to share with any matches from the night.

During this registration time, you have a chance to get a drink and mingle in the bar with the other singles until everyone has arrived.
At 8pm, or shortly after, I will ring the bell and ask everyone to make their way to the table number that corresponds with the number on their Match Record.
Once everyone is seated with their first date, the bell will ring to signify the start of the first date.
How it works
Each date lasts for 6 minutes. At the end of the 6 minutes, I will ring a bell. There is then a further minute between each date to finish your conversation in a relaxed manner and record your initial thoughts in your 'Little Something' Match Record.

Something Special – if you feel there could be a romantic connection and would like to exchange contact details.

Little Something – if you enjoyed meeting them and would like to exchange contact details to get to know them better, but it is too soon to know whether the connection is romantic or friendship.

Friends – if you enjoyed meeting them and would like to exchange contact details as friends.

If you would not like to exchange contact details, simply leave all boxes blank.
Please use your Match Record to note your initial thoughts after each date, as it can be harder to remember everyone later in the evening. Feel free to make notes throughout the night - your Match Record is for your eyes only.

After the further minute, I will ring the bell again. The men remain seated and the women move on to their next date (if you were on table 3, you move to table 4 and so on).
​
There will be a 15-minute break after every 4–5 dates, giving you time to visit the bar, have a comfort break and chat with the other singles before the dates continue.
​
Once everyone has had the opportunity to meet and enjoy their 6-minute dates, it is time for the social part of the evening to begin.
​
Many attendees stay for a drink, continue conversations and make new friends, although you are welcome to leave after the dates if you prefer.
What happens next?
Before you leave, please tear out the slip from the back of your personalised 'Little Something' Match Record and complete it before placing it in the box provided.
​
If you would like to exchange contact details with someone, simply tick the relevant box beside their name. If you do not wish to exchange contact details with anyone, please still hand in your slip with no boxes ticked.
​
The remainder of your Match Record is yours to keep and can be used to help you remember the people you met during the evening.
​
The following day, I will email you with your results. If two people have both selected any option for each other, they will be matched and their contact details will be exchanged.
​
Your match email will also show what each person selected, with your choice shown first. For example, "Friends / Something Special" means you selected Friends and the other person selected Something Special.
​
For privacy reasons, you will only receive information and contact details for mutual matches.
Everyone receives a results email, even if there are no matches from the evening. If you have not received your email, please check your spam folder and then contact me.
​
Attendees can also join the 'Takes Two' platform within 24 hours of attending a dating night and may be considered for introductions through Something Special Introductions' matchmaking services.
