Jules has always believed that love is the reason we're here. Not just romantic love, but the love we share with our family, our friends and the people who matter most to us. She also believes it's far better to be single than to be with the wrong person. But when you do find the right person to share your life with, it doesn't complete you – it strengthens you. Knowing someone has your back, and that you have theirs, can make life's ups and downs that little bit easier to face together. That's why the idea of personal matchmaking resonated so strongly with Jules and why she wanted to find out more.

Curious to find out more, Jules visited the matchmaking company's website, where she discovered that membership cost £15,000. Shocked by the price, she began researching other matchmaking agencies, only to find that many charged between £8,000 and £10,000 for just a handful of introductions.

​

It didn't make sense to Jules that something as important as finding the love of your life should only be available to people who could afford to spend thousands of pounds. That's when the idea for Something Special Introductions was born.

 

In January 2019, Jules launched Something Special Introductions to offer a more affordable approach to personal matchmaking. She has always believed that genuine connections are made face to face, not by endlessly scrolling through profiles, which is why she launched 'Little Something' Dating Nights shortly afterwards, giving singles another relaxed and genuine way to meet in person.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Covid restrictions meant that the Dating Nights were paused for almost 18 months. When restrictions were lifted in 2021, Jules saw first-hand how isolation had affected friends, family and clients. Realising many people lacked the confidence to get back out there and rebuild their social lives, she decided to do something about it.​​

 

​In August 2021, after discovering a London men's mental health walking group on Facebook, Jules realised there was nothing similar for local women. Wanting to help people regain their confidence and reconnect after Covid, she created The Pretty Woman Club for Women, based around the idea of #walktalkdrink – bringing people together for a walk followed by a drink to encourage conversation, friendship and support. A few weeks later, she created The GoodFellas Club for Men. The walks were intentionally kept to around 45 minutes to an hour so that those who couldn't, or simply didn't want to, take part in the walk could still join everyone afterwards for a drink, making the groups as inclusive as possible. Originally intended as a short-term way of helping people rebuild their confidence after the pandemic, the free community groups proved so popular that Jules ran two free community walks each week for women and one each week for men for the next 18 months, helping hundreds of people regain their confidence, make new friends and reconnect with others. As Something Special Introductions continued to grow, it eventually became impossible for Jules to continue running three free community walks every week, and the groups came to an end in February 2023.

As the communities grew, people began asking Jules to organise more social events. This led to the launch of Pretty Good Events in 2022, which later became The Friendship Club for Everyone, bringing everything together under Something Special Introductions and creating one place where people could make genuine friendships, whether they were single or in a relationship.

 

As Something Special Introductions continued to grow, Jules also launched 'Little Something' Drinks for Singles. What began as special events for occasions such as Valentine's Day and Christmas has since grown into regular monthly events, giving people another relaxed and informal way to meet in an open age-range setting.

In April 2024, after hearing countless stories from Dating Night attendees about fake profiles, scams and misleading information on traditional dating sites, Jules launched 'Takes Two'. Rather than creating another traditional dating site, she created a simple, verified platform where every member has either attended a Dating Night, joined through personal matchmaking or been personally verified by Jules via Zoom. It gives genuine people another trusted way to connect before meeting face to face.

 

Today, personal matchmaking remains at the heart of Something Special Introductions, alongside 'Little Something' Dating Nights, Drinks for Singles, The Friendship Club for Everyone and 'Takes Two'.

As the Something Special community has grown, so has Jules' matchmaking service. Rather than simply introducing one matchmaking member to another, she can now also introduce suitable people she has met through her wider verified community, creating even more opportunities for people to find the right person while continuing to help others make genuine friendships through the wider Something Special community.

 

Although the business has grown and evolved over the years, one thing has never changed – Jules' passion for bringing people together and helping people find love, build lasting friendships and create genuine, meaningful connections.

People often ask where the name Something Special came from, and it has a very personal meaning to me. My mum owned a shop in Surrey during the late 1970s and early 1980s called Something Special. Sadly, I lost her to cancer when I was just six years old.​ After my divorce, whenever people asked me what I was looking for, I would often reply that I was looking for "something special". So, when I founded this business in 2019, the name felt like the perfect choice. Not only because it reflected what so many of us hope to find in love, but also because it was a tribute to my mum.

​

What I love is that, as Something Special Introductions has grown, the meaning behind the name has grown too. Today, it isn't just about helping people find love. It's also about helping people make genuine friends. Over the years, I've seen so many friendships begin through my Dating Nights, Drinks for Singles and The Friendship Club for Everyone, alongside so many lasting relationships. It has only reinforced what I've always believed: finding a lifelong friend is just as special as finding a lifelong partner.

​

Some people have met their best friend through Something Special Introductions. Others have met the person they would go on to spend the rest of their lives with. If you're still friends or still together ten years later, I think that's something truly special.
